1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 301 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly recognizes 1-4 the 1998-1999 Victoria High School cheerleaders and their coaches 1-5 on earning first place at the National High School Cheerleading 1-6 Championship in Orlando, Florida, on February 7, 1999; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The Victoria High School cheerleaders earned their 1-8 national championship title by competing against 73 cheerleading 1-9 squads from across the United States and by receiving the highest 1-10 score in their division; and 1-11 WHEREAS, This talented cheerleading team previously won 1-12 the state championship title at the Texas State Cheerleading 1-13 Championship competition in Austin on January 23, 1999; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Exhibiting perseverance and hard work throughout 1-15 the year, Natalie Cole, Leah Green, Liz Lasater, Melissa Myers, 1-16 Kendra Serold, Laurie Beck, Lindy Burns, Amy Reimann, 1-17 Amber Clemmons, Sara Dickson, Courtney Horecka, Haley Kolle, 1-18 Amanda Rodriguez, Karla Sterne, Melissa Keefe, Chelsie Luhn, 1-19 and Sara Carville have worked diligently to support the sports 1-20 teams at their school, and they deserve to be proud of their 1-21 efforts and outstanding performance; and 1-22 WHEREAS, They have devoted time and energy to practicing 1-23 cheerleading routines and to physical conditioning regimens, and 1-24 the admirable leadership of coaches Denise Neel and Terese Reese 2-1 and the cheerleaders' disciplined schedules have been richly 2-2 rewarded; and 2-3 WHEREAS, The cheerleaders have also contributed to the 2-4 Victoria community by participation in such activities as the 2-5 Gulf Bend Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center Friendship 2-6 Fest, Red Ribbon Week, and TAAS Week; and 2-7 WHEREAS, This highly successful year is a tribute to the 2-8 exceptional skills and the loyal enthusiasm the Victoria High 2-9 School cheerleaders have consistently displayed; now, therefore, 2-10 be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-12 76th Legislature, hereby join the staff and students of Victoria 2-13 High School in commending the cheerleaders and coaches for their 2-14 splendid season, their support of the school teams, and their 2-15 school spirit; and, be it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-17 Victoria High School cheerleaders as a token of esteem from the 2-18 Texas Senate. 2-19 Armbrister 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 President of the Senate 2-22 I hereby certify that the above 2-23 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-24 on March 1, 1999. 2-25 ______________________________________ 2-26 Secretary of the Senate 2-27 ______________________________________ 2-28 Member, Texas Senate
