 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 330
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
 1-4     recognizing Clyde Winford West on the grand occasion of his 90th
 1-5     birthday on March 11, 1999; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Born March 11, 1909, in Centralia, Texas, Clyde
 1-7     was one of seven siblings born to William Jackson West and
 1-8     Minnie Melinda Chandler; he was educated in the Groveton public
 1-9     schools and finished his formal education in 1927; he married
1-10     Dema Hester Moore on December 23, 1933; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Bull" and "Boo Tator" to
1-12     his family and friends, Clyde was dedicated to his work as a
1-13     carpenter and moved to Houston in 1941 to work in the shipyards;
1-14     he moved to Pasadena the following year and became well known for
1-15     the many churches he built; he also worked on Jones Hall in the
1-16     Houston theater district; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Clyde and Dema were blessed with four children,
1-18     Betty Lamb, Quincey James, Judge David West, and Dean West, and
1-19     they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary; they
1-20     also have 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and three
1-21     great-great-grandchildren; and
1-22           WHEREAS, A devout Christian and a leader in his community,
1-23     Clyde is a member of First Baptist Church in Pasadena, where he
1-24     still serves as a deacon and is a regular host at the men's Bible
 2-1     Luncheon held every Tuesday; he is a regular attendee at many of
 2-2     the Pasadena City Council meetings and is a member of the Pasadena
 2-3     Kiwanis Club; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, Clyde West is an exemplary and distinguished
 2-5     gentleman who lives his life to the fullest, and he is a source
 2-6     of strength, support, and joy to his family and many friends; now,
 2-7     therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-9     76th Legislature, hereby send congratulations to Clyde West on
2-10     the joyous occasion of his 90th birthday and best wishes for the
2-11     coming year; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13     Clyde West as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
