1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 352 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas congratulates 1-4 the members of the Laneri family, longtime Fort Worth residents 1-5 and owners of the O.B. Macaroni Company, on its 100 years of 1-6 service to Fort Worth and Texas; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Giovanni Battista (J. B.) Laneri, a respected 1-8 pioneer of the Fort Worth business community, arrived in 1-9 Fort Worth in 1882, made his fortune in the food and real 1-10 estate businesses, and by 1902 was a member of the Board of 1-11 Trade and a director of the Fort Worth National Bank; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The prominent investor and philanthropist was 1-13 president and financial backer for Fort Worth Macaroni, which 1-14 was established in January of 1899 and ideally located for 1-15 success at the heart of the Fort Worth railroad network; and 1-16 WHEREAS, J. B. was joined in the business in 1907 by his 1-17 nephew from New York City, Louis Laneri, and the company continued 1-18 to prosper, again with the addition of Louis's sons, John and Carl, 1-19 and more recently with the fourth generation of cousins, Louis II 1-20 and Carlo; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Fort Worth Macaroni was renamed O.B. (Our Best) 1-22 Macaroni in 1959, and after 100 years is still owned by the 1-23 Laneri family; the family business, with its original family 1-24 pasta recipe, is the only surviving Italian-owned pasta company 2-1 in the Southwest; and 2-2 WHEREAS, O.B. Macaroni continues to utilize neighborhood 2-3 workers and to ship their pasta products throughout Texas and 2-4 the Southwest; and 2-5 WHEREAS, A century of Laneri family tradition is synonymous 2-6 with their Fort Worth philanthropic endeavors which include 2-7 donations to community causes and programs, such as the 2-8 Tarrant County Food Bank, the Women's Haven of Tarrant County, 2-9 and for educational support to the Roman Catholic Diocese; now, 2-10 therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-12 76th Legislature, hereby congratulate O.B.
