 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 360
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas congratulates the
 1-4     Texas Historical Commission and the citizens of West Central Texas
 1-5     for collaborating to develop the Texas Forts Trail Program for those
 1-6     Texans and tourists who want to find out more about the culture and
 1-7     heritage of the region; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Because of their efforts, the resulting 650 miles
 1-9     of uncongested roadways of the Forts Trail connecting Fort Mason,
1-10     Fort Griffin, Fort Belknap, Fort Phantom Hill, Fort Concho,
1-11     Fort Richardson, Fort Chadbourne, Fort McKavett, and
1-12     Real Presidio de San Saba take visitors through scenic western
1-13     landscapes and by historic markers which relate information about
1-14     events and places in Texas history; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Communities along the trail provide visitors with
1-16     opportunities for participating in various cultural festivals and
1-17     to visit historic and cultural sites such as the Grace Museum in
1-18     Abilene and the Heart of Texas Historical Museum in Brady; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Brochures about the Texas Forts Trail are valuable
1-20     sources of information for tourists and are available for them at
1-21     Texas Travel Centers or by request from the Abilene or San Angelo
1-22     Convention and Visitors Bureaus; now, therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
1-24     76th Legislature, hereby commend the development of the Texas Forts
 2-1     Trail Program as a valuable way to promote interest in the cultural
 2-2     and historic heritage of West Central Texas and to develop the
 2-3     tourist trade as a boost to the economy of the area; and, be it
 2-4     further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
 2-6     Texas Forts Trail Program as an expression of the high regard of
 2-7     the Texas Senate for the program's contribution to the preservation
 2-8     of our historic past.
