1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 365 1-3 WHEREAS, Members of the Senior Service Corps are active 1-4 senior volunteers who have a wealth of experience, skills, talents, 1-5 interests, and creativity that are invaluable resources in building 1-6 a network of individuals who are "fixin'" Texas; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Our state's most precious and only natural growing 1-8 resource is the collective experience and ability of our older 1-9 citizens; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is proud to recognize the 1-11 volunteers from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programs, the 1-12 Foster Grandparent Programs, and the Senior Companion Programs in 1-13 Texas, the three programs that comprise the Senior Service Corps; 1-14 and 1-15 WHEREAS, These programs have mobilized older Texans to 1-16 provide positive solutions to community challenges in education, 1-17 public safety, health and human services, and the environment; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Some 35,000 senior volunteers donated 7,069,163 1-19 hours of service and served 1,813,527 people in Texas in 1998; now, 1-20 therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-22 76th Legislature, hereby express its deepest gratitude to the 1-23 volunteers of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programs, the Foster 1-24 Grandparent Programs, and the Senior Companion Programs in Texas 2-1 who devote their time, energy, and skills to "fixin'" Texas; and, be 2-2 it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-4 Senior Service Corps as an expression of highest esteem from the 2-5 Texas Senate. 2-6 Truan 2-7 Armbrister Gallegos Nixon 2-8 Barrientos Harris Ogden 2-9 Bernsen Haywood Ratliff 2-10 Bivins Jackson Shapiro 2-11 Brown Lindsay Shapleigh 2-12 Cain Lucio Sibley 2-13 Carona Luna Wentworth 2-14 Duncan Madla West 2-15 Ellis Moncrief Whitmire 2-16 Fraser Nelson Zaffirini 2-17 Perry, President of the Senate 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 President of the Senate 2-20 I hereby certify that the above 2-21 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-22 on March 9, 1999. 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 Secretary of the Senate 2-25 ______________________________________ 2-26 Dean of the Senate
