 1-3                                  In Memory
 1-4                                     of
 1-5                          John George Willome, Jr.
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
 1-7     of Junction City in mourning the loss of John George Willome, Jr.,
 1-8     who died February 25, 1999, at the age of 80; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Born on September 25, 1918, he was the son of John
1-10     and Lottie Willome of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. Willome joined the United States Army Air Corps
1-12     to defend his country during World War II; and
1-13           WHEREAS, John George Willome, Jr., married Sarah Jane Neff
1-14     on May 29, 1942, in Gulfport, Mississippi, and they had a loving
1-15     marriage and partnership until her death soon after they celebrated
1-16     their 50th anniversary; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Willome returned to Junction City in
1-18     1946 to live; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Mr. Willome was dedicated to his work as an
1-20     accountant, beginning his career working for A. D. Jellison; and
1-21           WHEREAS, A well-known civic leader, he was active in the Young
1-22     Men's Christian Association, the Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge, the
1-23     Boy Scouts of America, and the Geary Community Historical Society;
1-24     and
 2-1           WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mr. Willome was treasurer of the
 2-2     First United Methodist Church, and he and his wife were members of
 2-3     the Better Builders class; he sang in the church choir, was choir
 2-4     director, and was a soloist performer for other local churches; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, Mr. Willome
 2-6     was respected for his many accomplishments and was a leader in his
 2-7     community; and
 2-8           WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and
 2-9     great-grandfather, he leaves memories which will be treasured
2-10     always by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
2-11           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-12     76th Legislature, hereby express sincere condolences to the
2-13     members of his family:  his sons, Jack Willome, Tom Willome,
2-14     and Mike Willome; his three stepbrothers, Robert, David, and Tom;
2-15     and his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and, be it
2-16     further
2-17           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-18     members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
2-19     the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
2-20     do so in the memory of John George Willome, Jr.
