1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 375 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Miriam Moon Wittig 1-6 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-7 of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Miriam Moon Wittig, who 1-8 died February 18, 1999, at the age of 79; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Born December 17, 1919, in Anniston, Alabama, 1-10 Miriam Moon moved to San Antonio while in her teens and 1-11 graduated from Jefferson High School, where she was voted 1-12 Most Athletic Girl; she attended The University of Texas and 1-13 the University of Arkansas; and 1-14 WHEREAS, She married Donald A. Wittig in 1940, and the couple 1-15 had a loving marriage of 50 years and were the proud parents of 1-16 nine children; she was preceded in death by her husband, her son 1-17 Craig, and her granddaughter Anne; and 1-18 WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Miriam was dedicated to her work 1-19 as a homemaker and was respected in the community for her many 1-20 accomplishments; and 1-21 WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, she 1-22 gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, 1-23 and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; 1-24 and 2-1 WHEREAS, Miriam was a devout Christian, and she and her 2-2 husband were longtime active members of Our Lady of Grace 2-3 Parish; they also belonged to Saint Mark's in San Antonio and 2-4 Saint Peter's in Boerne, and together they ministered to the 2-5 sick in area hospitals; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Miriam Wittig was a devoted wife, mother, 2-7 and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be 2-8 treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, 2-9 be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-11 76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-12 bereaved family of Miriam Moon Wittig: her sons, Judge Don Wittig, 2-13 Joseph Wittig, Mark Wittig, Evan Wittig, Vincent Wittig, and 2-14 Steve Wittig; her daughters, Cathy Olsen and Alice Boeck; her 2-15 sister, Pauline Hill; and her 27 grandchildren and five 2-16 great-grandchildren; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-18 members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from 2-19 the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, 2-20 it do so in memory of Miriam Wittig. 2-21 Wentworth 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 President of the Senate 2-24 I hereby certify that the above 2-25 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-26 on March 10, 1999, by a rising vote. 2-27 ______________________________________ 2-28 Secretary of the Senate 2-29 ______________________________________ 2-30 Member, Texas Senate
