1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 380 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great 1-3 pleasure in recognizing Brigadier General Perry V. Dalby, Commander 1-4 of First Brigade, 75th Division, United States Army; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This outstanding officer is being reassigned to 1-6 another unit, and the members of his command will miss him greatly, 1-7 since he is one of the most well-liked and respected commanders the 1-8 First Brigade has had; and 1-9 WHEREAS, An excellent citizen soldier, General Dalby has 1-10 over 30 years of military experience, combining active and reserve 1-11 service; and 1-12 WHEREAS, A Vietnam veteran, General Dalby has served in 1-13 various command positions from the platoon to the division level; 1-14 in addition to serving over 10 years as an officer, he is a graduate 1-15 of the United States Army War College resident course; and 1-16 WHEREAS, After leaving active duty in 1977, he began 1-17 consulting as a securities dealer and running a private real estate 1-18 brokerage business; General Dalby and his wife, Dr. Barbara Dalby, 1-19 established the Tyler House Restaurant, a first-rate restaurant in 1-20 Central Texas; in 1987, he was appointed by the Governor of Texas 1-21 to serve on the Brazos River Authority Board for a term of six 1-22 years; during the last two years, General Dalby served as president 1-23 of the board of 21 members; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished military career, he 2-1 has earned several awards that include: the Distinguished Flying 2-2 Cross, Bronze Star with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Purple Heart, 2-3 Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Vietnam 2-4 Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation; and 2-5 WHEREAS, A dedicated leader, General Dalby deserves to be 2-6 commended for his long and distinguished career; now, therefore, 2-7 be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 76th Legislature, hereby commend Brigadier General Perry V.
