1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 410 1-2 WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is proud to welcome members of 1-3 Texas Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE) to the State Capitol 1-4 on this day; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The national organization, Citizens for a Sound 1-6 Economy, was founded in 1984 and counts 250,000 informed, active 1-7 taxpayers among its membership who seek to achieve the common 1-8 goals of limited government, lower taxes, and fewer regulations; 1-9 to that end, the organization focuses on researching, analyzing, 1-10 and disseminating information on economic policy that is stated 1-11 in straightforward terms; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The state affiliate of the national organization, 1-13 Texas Citizens for a Sound Economy, represents approximately 1-14 25,000 Texans who support lower taxes as well as regulatory and 1-15 tort reform with the goal of making the Lone Star State an even 1-16 better place in which to live and conduct business; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Members of this grassroots coalition voice their 1-18 views and offer solutions to challenges facing our country today 1-19 by engaging policymakers and other citizens in policy debates and 1-20 by hosting informative briefings and town hall meetings; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Citizens for a Sound Economy also strives to 1-22 educate and mobilize consumers by making appearances on radio 1-23 and television programs and by sponsoring advertising to 1-24 promote its message; the organization works closely with its 2-1 individual members, as well as activists and community leaders, 2-2 to guarantee their opinions will be known in Washington and their 2-3 state capitals; and 2-4 WHEREAS, In addition, the association's educational 2-5 affiliate, CSE Foundation, monitors the appropriations process 2-6 and consistently urges Congress to reduce federal spending; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Citizens for a Sound Economy encourages all 2-8 taxpayers to make their voices heard, and the organization is 2-9 indeed deserving of special recognition at this time; now, 2-10 therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-12 76th Texas Legislature, hereby recognize March 17, 1999, as 2-13 Citizens for a Sound Economy Day at the State Capitol and extend 2-14 to the organization's delegation best wishes for an informative 2-15 and memorable visit. 2-16 Shapiro 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 President of the Senate 2-19 I hereby certify that the above 2-20 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-21 on March 17, 1999. 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Secretary of the Senate 2-24 ______________________________________ 2-25 Member, Texas Senate
