 1-3                                  In Memory
 1-4                                     of
 1-5                          Sarah Waldeen Martindale
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
 1-7     of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Sarah Waldeen Martindale,
 1-8     who died March 3, 1999, at the age of 24; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Born February 3, 1975, in S.H.A.P.E., Belgium,
1-10     Sarah graduated from Cole High School in San Antonio and
1-11     Southwest Texas State University; at the time of her death,
1-12     she was pursuing a master's degree from Simmons College in
1-13     Massachusetts; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Sarah was dedicated to her
1-15     work with children with special needs; since January of 1998,
1-16     she had worked as a teacher at the New England Center for
1-17     Children; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Sarah was an exemplary young lady, whose charm,
1-19     grace, and engaging personality touched the lives of many; and
1-20           WHEREAS, She was intelligent, warmhearted, wise, and
1-21     compassionate, and she had a great love of children and
1-22     a talent for working with them; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Sarah had a gift for music, and she was a devout
1-24     Christian who was active in the Chrysalis and Emmaus movements
 2-1     of the United Methodist Church; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Sarah lived her life to the fullest and was a
 2-3     devoted daughter and sister, and she leaves behind memories
 2-4     that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends;
 2-5     now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
 2-8     bereaved family of Sarah Waldeen Martindale:  her parents, Bob and
 2-9     Jane Martindale; her sisters, Cyndy Strickland, Beverly Horvit,
2-10     and Leigh Anne Martindale; her brothers, Rob and Carlton Martindale;
2-11     and her maternal grandmother, Waldeen Thomson; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-13     the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
2-14     from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
2-15     it do so in memory of Sarah Waldeen Martindale.
