1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 519 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Petty D. Hunter on the momentous occasion of his 1-4 retirement from the Houston Parks and Recreation Department 1-5 after 26 years of exceptional service; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Throughout his employment, Mr. Hunter served with 1-7 diligence and dedication to excellence in his supervisory and 1-8 administrative positions; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Having majored in recreation and physical 1-10 education, his knowledge and job diversity over his many years 1-11 with the department greatly contributed to the success of the 1-12 programs and activities he initiated and oversaw; and 1-13 WHEREAS, In addition to his varied duties as Deputy 1-14 Director, Mr. Hunter gave his time and energy generously to 1-15 outside interests; he presided over Minorities and Leisure 1-16 Service Committee of Texas Recreation and Park Society and was 1-17 a board member of the Houston Police Activities League; a 1-18 director for Outstanding Youth Awards/Houston Central Exchange 1-19 Club, he was past chairman of the Board of Directors for the 1-20 Black United Fund of Texas; and 1-21 WHEREAS, His years of service have immeasurably contributed 1-22 to the expansion and improvement of the park system; his varied 1-23 and notable achievements are to be commended; now, therefore, 1-24 be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 76th Legislature, hereby express its appreciation to 2-3 Petty D.
