1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 528 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride 1-4 in recognizing Colonel James M. "Marc" Enger, who is retiring 1-5 June 1, 1999, after many years of loyal service with the 1-6 United States Air Force; and 1-7 WHEREAS, James Enger graduated from the United States 1-8 Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1969 and 1-9 received his commission as second lieutenant; he earned a master's 1-10 degree in economics at the University of California at Los Angeles 1-11 and was assigned in 1970 as an intelligence officer in the 56th 1-12 Special Operations Wing, NKP/Thailand; and 1-13 WHEREAS, His many assignments throughout his successful 1-14 career include serving from 1976 to 1980 with the 341st Strategic 1-15 Missile Wing at Malstrom Air Force Base in Missouri, serving from 1-16 1983 to 1986 with the Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff at 1-17 Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, and serving from 1991 to 1994 1-18 with the 497th Intelligence Group at Bolling Air Force Base in 1-19 Washington, D.C.; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Colonel Enger has served in Intelligence, 1-21 Missiles, and the Comm-Computer career field, and he has completed 1-22 tours in Thailand, Germany, and Turkey; he received his promotion 1-23 to lieutenant colonel in 1985 and to colonel in 1991; and 1-24 WHEREAS, He was assigned to Kelly Air Force Base in Texas in 2-1 1995, and in 1996, he was named Director of Information Operations, 2-2 Headquarters Air Intelligence Agency, at Kelly Air Force Base; and 2-3 WHEREAS, The Air Intelligence Agency Directorate of 2-4 Informations Operations is the focal point of all agency 2-5 activities; the HQ AIA/DO provides the operational interface to 2-6 the warfighter and the intelligence customer, and integrates 2-7 all-source intel activities into products and services for 2-8 United States Air Force operations, air component commmands, and 2-9 other Department of Defense requirements; and 2-10 WHEREAS, In recognition of his distinguished military 2-11 service, Colonel Enger has received numerous decorations, 2-12 including the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Medal with 2-13 one oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak 2-14 leaf clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the 2-15 Air Force Commendation Medal; and 2-16 WHEREAS, Colonel Enger is an exemplary gentleman and patriot 2-17 who is respected for the valor he has demonstrated throughout his 2-18 career and for his superior leadership skills, and his many 2-19 contributions to the United States Air Force deserve legislative 2-20 recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-21 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-22 76th Legislature, hereby commend Colonel James Enger on his 2-23 outstanding military career and express appreciation for his many 2-24 accomplishments; and, be it further 2-25 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-26 Colonel Enger as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 3-1 Luna 3-2 ______________________________________ 3-3 President of the Senate 3-4 I hereby certify that the above 3-5 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-6 on March 30, 1999. 3-7 ______________________________________ 3-8 Secretary of the Senate 3-9 ______________________________________ 3-10 Member, Texas Senate
