1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 531
 1-2           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ridgell placed great faith in
 1-3     their future when they married on March 11, 1949, in Dallas, and
 1-4     on this, their 50th wedding anniversary, they have been greatly
 1-5     rewarded for their commitment; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Ridgell were high school sweethearts
 1-7     in their hometown of Prescott, Arkansas; they supported their
 1-8     family through Mr. Ridgell's employment at LTV in Grand Prairie
 1-9     and, later, through his ownership of laundries; Mrs. Ridgell
1-10     contributed through her employment with JC Penney and UCCEL
1-11     Computing Company; Mr. and Mrs. Ridgell lived in Duncanville
1-12     until their retirement; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Ridgell's union has been the source
1-14     of much joy; their love for one another has also seen them through
1-15     life's many trials; the world has changed considerably during their
1-16     50 years of marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Ridgell have remained true
1-17     to their vows and devoted to one another, and today, their union
1-18     endures; and
1-19           WHEREAS, They have been blessed with a wonderful family;
1-20     their children, Steve and Jan, and their five grandchildren have
1-21     been the source of much pride and joy; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Ridgell honored their 50-year
1-23     commitment with a ceremony to renew their wedding vows; their son,
1-24     Steve Ridgell, performed the ceremony and their daughter, Jan Frank,
 2-1     presented the wedding music; they then shared their happiness with
 2-2     their family and friends at a reception held at League Street Church
 2-3     of Christ in Sulphur Springs and hosted by their children; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, The long and successful union of Mr. and Mrs. Ridgell
 2-5     is certainly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to
 2-8     Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ridgell on the occasion of their 50th wedding
 2-9     anniversary; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a special copy of this Resolution be prepared
2-11     for this distinguished couple as a memento of this notable day in
2-12     their lives.
