1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 537 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to send 1-3 greetings to Nick Nichimoto of Honolulu, Hawaii, and to designate 1-4 him an Honorary Texan for his devoted service to our country; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born on January 10, 1929, in Hilo, Hawaii, this 1-6 intrepid gentleman joined the United States Army in 1948 and went 1-7 through basic training in Scofield Barracks, Hawaii; and 1-8 WHEREAS, From 1948 through 1950, Mr. Nichimoto was in the 1-9 United States Army in the 35th Infantry Regiment, B Company, and 1-10 then in the 25th Infantry Division in Japan; and 1-11 WHEREAS, While serving in Korea, he became a prisoner of war 1-12 in November, 1950, until August, 1953; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Reenlisting in the United States Army in 1959, he saw 1-14 service in Germany and in France; in 1965 through 1967, he served 1-15 in Vietnam; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Returning to Germany, Nick Nichimoto was there from 1-17 1968 through 1970; on January 31, 1973, this gallant gentleman 1-18 retired from the United States Army; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Mr. Nichimoto's service to his country has been 1-20 marked by true fidelity and allegiance, and it is fitting that the 1-21 Texas Senate show its high regard for him; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-23 76th Legislature, hereby declare Nick Nichimoto an Honorary Texan 1-24 with all attendant rights and privileges thereof; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him 2-2 as an expression of the highest esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-3 Gallegos 2-4 ______________________________________ 2-5 President of the Senate 2-6 I hereby certify that the above 2-7 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-8 on March 31, 1999. 2-9 ______________________________________ 2-10 Secretary of the Senate 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 Member, Texas Senate
