1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 547 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Bernarda Chacon Sandoval 1-5 WHEREAS, It is with great sorrow that the Texas Senate 1-6 joins with the citizens of West Texas in mourning the loss of 1-7 Bernarda Chacon Sandoval, who died October 2, 1998, at the age 1-8 of 81; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Being taken from this earth on the Feast of the 1-10 Guardian Angels is only fitting for a woman of great compassion 1-11 and courage who devoted her life to her loved ones and to the 1-12 care of others; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Born on November 25, 1916, Bernarda overcame many 1-14 obstacles as an orphan and divorced mother of seven; she labored 1-15 as a domestic, factory, and field worker; she endured many 1-16 heartaches; suffered many debilitating ailments; sacrificed much 1-17 so that her children could be educated, not schooled, in their 1-18 professions; throughout her life, she maintained a passion for 1-19 living and a joy in simple celebrations; and 1-20 WHEREAS, She used her life and experiences to relate 1-21 "dichos" (stories) to help others through rough times; snippets 1-22 of folk wisdom were her way of conveying humor, wisdom, 1-23 understanding, and compassion to all situations; no one was ever 1-24 prejudged and all were welcomed in her warm embrace; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Her presence will be greatly missed by all who 2-2 knew her, and her great inner strength and conviction will live 2-3 on in the many lives she touched as a mother and a friend; now, 2-4 therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-7 bereaved family of Bernarda Chacon Sandoval; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-9 members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from 2-10 the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it 2-11 do so in memory of Bernarda Chacon Sandoval. 2-12 Shapleigh 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 President of the Senate 2-15 I hereby certify that the above 2-16 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-17 on April 6, 1999, by a rising vote. 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Secretary of the Senate 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Member, Texas Senate
