                                  SENATE RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas Young Democrats is a statewide
 1-2     organization that provides politically active young men and women
 1-3     an effective forum in which to engage in the processes that are
 1-4     essential to the success of participatory forms of government; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Bringing together a diverse group of citizens under
 1-6     the banner of the Democratic Party of Texas, the organization each
 1-7     year holds a convention during which it conducts its business,
 1-8     elects officers for the coming year, and generally dedicates itself
 1-9     to espousing the principles, ideals, and goals inherent in the
1-10     platforms, issues, and candidates put forth by the Democratic
1-11     Party; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The Texas Young Democrats' 1999 convention in Austin
1-13     will begin April 9 and conclude with appropriate closing ceremonies
1-14     on April 11, 1999; and
1-15           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is proud to support all such
1-16     organizations that contribute to the success of our democratic form
1-17     of government and is pleased to show its support by allowing this
1-18     fine group to use the Senate chamber for the conduct of its
1-19     official business; now, therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 76th
1-21     Legislature, hereby grant the Texas Young Democrats permission to
1-22     use the Senate chamber, provided the Senate is not in session, on
1-23     Sunday, April 11, 1999, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the purpose of
1-24     holding closing ceremonies and electing statewide officers.
