1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 582
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 1-3     recognize the Jackson State University National Alumni Association
 1-4     which will be holding its third Biennial National Alumni Conference
 1-5     in Houston, Texas, on June 18-20, 1999; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Over 300 alumni from across the United States are
 1-7     expected to attend the "Crossing the Bridge to the 21st Century"
 1-8     conclave being hosted by the Houston Alumni Chapter; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, In keeping with the rich tradition of Jackson State
1-10     University to provide its students the opportunities to develop
1-11     knowledge and skills for leadership, the alumni will be offered
1-12     workshops on topics such as Goal Setting, Leadership Skills, Stress
1-13     Management, Communication Skills, and Financial Planning; and
1-14           WHEREAS, As Jackson State University is the urban university
1-15     in Mississippi, the alumni are dedicated to the preservation of
1-16     its distinguished history and want to ensure its continued growth
1-17     through active participation and inspiration; they want to instill
1-18     a sense of pride, a love of learning, and the skills for competing
1-19     in tomorrow's world; now, therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
1-21     76th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the Jackson State
1-22     University National Alumni Association for an enjoyable and
1-23     informative conference; and, be it further
1-24           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them
 2-1     as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
