1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 586
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
 1-3     recognizing the Texas Real Estate Commission on the occasion of the
 1-4     50th anniversary of its creation as a separate state agency; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature created the Texas Real Estate
 1-6     Commission in 1949 and established its legal responsibility to
 1-7     serve the state's citizens; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, the Texas Real Estate
 1-9     Commission has successfully honored its commitment to protecting
1-10     consumers, has ensured the availability of qualified and honest
1-11     real estate professionals, and has fostered economic growth in
1-12     Texas; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Through the implementation of educational programs
1-14     and professional licensing programs and through the enforcement
1-15     of real estate standards, the commission has provided effectively
1-16     trained, professionally qualified, and ethically responsible real
1-17     estate service providers; and
1-18           WHEREAS, More than 465,000 Texans have been licensed by the
1-19     Texas Real Estate Commission over the past 50 years, and currently
1-20     there are more than 112,000 licenses and registrations in effect for
1-21     brokers, salespersons, property inspectors, easement or right-of-way
1-22     agents, education providers, residential service companies, and
1-23     timeshare developers; and
1-24           WHEREAS, The Texas Real Estate Commission is holding its
 2-1     next regular meeting on Monday, April 12, 1999, in Austin, and
 2-2     the Texas Senate is  pleased to recognize the commission members
 2-3     on that date for their dedication to our state and their many
 2-4     accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-6     76th Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Real Estate Commission
 2-7     on its many contributions to the citizens of our state and extend
 2-8     congratulations to its members on the occasion of the commission's
 2-9     50th anniversary; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-11     Texas Real Estate Commission as an expression of esteem from
2-12     the Texas Senate.
