1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 597
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly recognizes
 1-3     the Lubbock Christian High School girls basketball team for winning
 1-4     the Class 3A girls state basketball championship; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The Lady Eagles captured their title with a victory
 1-6     over Katy Faith West 50-39 in the championship game in Waco; the
 1-7     Eagles ended their season with an overall record of 22-15 and a
 1-8     district record of 8-0; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, The Eagles' victory gave Lubbock Christian High
1-10     School its seventh state championship in the school's history; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the team members demonstrated
1-12     remarkable talent and manifested the fine skills and discipline
1-13     instilled in them by head coach Hutch Haley and assistant coaches
1-14     Tahnee Elliott, Janie Boyles, Scott Marshall, and Dave Carter; the
1-15     support and enthusiasm of team manager Kristen Tracy and of school
1-16     superintendent Peter Dahlstrom contributed to the Eagles' successful
1-17     season; and
1-18           WHEREAS, The members of the team are Kenee Carter,
1-19     Heather Crawford, Jocelyn Qubty, Rebecca Evans, Amy Rider,
1-20     Mandi Paden, Brittany Carroll, Tabitha Qubty, Daysha Gilliam,
1-21     Barbie Brown, and Amber Lampert; and
1-22           WHEREAS, These dedicated basketball players have given their
1-23     community a renewed sense of pride and have brought excitement to
1-24     all who follow sports in the Lubbock area; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Exhibiting perseverance, team unity, and respect for
 2-2     the highest ideals of American sportsmanship, team members have
 2-3     brought honor to their school and their community; now, therefore,
 2-4     be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-6     76th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Lubbock Christian
 2-7     High School girls basketball team on their great victory and extend
 2-8     congratulations to the coaches and manager and to each of the
 2-9     players; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-11     team as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
