 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 600
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-4     recognize H. Ken DeDominicis for his invaluable contributions
 1-5     to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi as a vice president of
 1-6     institutional advancement at the respected university; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, An outstanding administrator, he began working
 1-8     for Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi on August 12, 1991;
 1-9     Mr. DeDominicis is a former associate vice chancellor for
1-10     development at North Carolina State University; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. DeDominicis earned his bachelor's degree, cum
1-12     laude, at La Salle University, and he obtained a master's degree
1-13     in public administration from North Carolina State University; and
1-14           WHEREAS, A truly patriotic American, Mr. DeDominicis served
1-15     with the United States Army Security Agency as a Russian linguist
1-16     from 1970 through 1973; in 1974 through 1975, he was a DuPont Fellow
1-17     in Russian Studies at the University of Virginia; later, he pursued
1-18     doctoral work in public policy at Cornell University; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Prior to his experience at North Carolina State
1-20     University, he was a senior development officer responsible for
1-21     a $28.5 million project campaign; Ken DeDominicis was honored with
1-22     a national award by the Council for the Advancement and Support of
1-23     Education for the campaign's promotional film; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Well known for his impressive ability to raise
 2-1     funds, Ken mounted an extremely successful capital campaign
 2-2     for North Carolina State University and developed the corporate
 2-3     matching gift and telemarketing programs which were to be so
 2-4     productive; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Since 1991, Ken's advancement division has become
 2-6     highly proficient at providing fundraising and marketing support
 2-7     to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi; and
 2-8           WHEREAS, Credited with helping the school receive
 2-9     national recognition as the top regional university in Texas,
2-10     H. Ken DeDominicis is especially proud of the awareness the
2-11     school has achieved since it became a four-year institution in
2-12     1994; and
2-13           WHEREAS, In U.S. News and World Report in 1998 and 1999,
2-14     Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi was named the top regional
2-15     public university; private fundraising under his leadership has
2-16     grown into the millions of dollars for the institution; and
2-17           WHEREAS, The departing administrator complimented the
2-18     abilities of his coworkers, and gave them much credit, saying
2-19     that the university's growth would not have been possible without
2-20     that team; and
2-21           WHEREAS,  Mr. DeDominicis is leaving his present job to accept
2-22     a position with the University of Saint Thomas, a private liberal
2-23     arts university in Houston, where he will be overseer of external
2-24     affairs and fundraising programs; and
2-25           WHEREAS, Ken will begin his new duties in April, 1999,
2-26     and his achievements at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi have
 3-1     greatly benefitted higher education for all Texans; now, therefore,
 3-2     be it
 3-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 3-4     76th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to H. Ken DeDominicis
 3-5     for continued success in his new position; and, be it further
 3-6           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this
 3-7     outstanding gentleman as an expression of the high regard and
 3-8     esteem of the Texas Senate.
