1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 634 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-4 join the citizens of San Antonio in saluting Carole F. Smith for 1-5 her 18 years of dedication to the well-being of the youth in the 1-6 Northside Independent School District; and 1-7 WHEREAS, She was selected as the Southern District Elementary 1-8 School Physical Educator of the Year by the National Association 1-9 for Sport and Physical Education and will be honored as such at 1-10 the national convention to be held in Boston, Massachusetts, 1-11 April 20-24, 1999; and 1-12 WHEREAS, As a recipient of this honor, Carole and five other 1-13 district winners are in contention for the "National Teacher of the 1-14 Year Award" to be announced at the Hall of Fame Banquet to be held 1-15 on April 23; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Her dedication and lifelong commitment to the 1-17 physical welfare of children has brought much well-deserved 1-18 recognition both inside the district and across the state; she 1-19 developed motor skill labs by refining activities such as juggling 1-20 balls; as author of four books and countless journal articles her 1-21 knowledge and expertise became widespread; and 1-22 WHEREAS, For 30 years, she has taken an active role in many 1-23 professional organizations: the Texas Association of Health, 1-24 Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, the National Association 2-1 for Sport and Physical Education, and the Texas Classroom Teachers 2-2 Association; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Her wisdom and experience have been invaluable to the 2-4 Northside Independent School District, which has benefitted from her 2-5 basic belief that all children are worthwhile; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-7 76th Legislature, hereby commend Carole F.
