1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 641 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great 1-4 pleasure in recognizing Curtis Sinclair "Sid" Wells, Jr., for 1-5 his many contributions to the citizens of the State of Texas; and 1-6 WHEREAS, A sixth-generation Texan, Sid was born on 1-7 September 13, 1936, in Houston; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Sid Wells graduated from Lamar High School in 1-9 Houston and attended Texas A&M University, where he earned his 1-10 bachelor of science and master of science degrees in aerospace 1-11 engineering; he received his doctorate in mechanical and aerospace 1-12 engineering from Rice University; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Sid married Elizabeth Ellen Moore, and the 1-14 fortunate couple has enjoyed a secure and lasting partnership 1-15 which has produced three children: Charlotte Ellen Wells, 1-16 Christopher Sinclair Wells, and Curtis Allen Wells; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The children of Beth and Sid Wells have presented 1-18 them with four grandchildren, who have brought their grandparents 1-19 great pride and joy; the grandchildren are: Rachel Elizabeth, 1-20 Curtis Moore, Sydney Ellen, and Carson Christopher; and 1-21 WHEREAS, From 1967 to 1975, Dr. Wells worked for the LTV 1-22 Research Center, where he managed projects supporting new business 1-23 developments for LTV Aerospace and E-Systems; from 1976 to 1988, he 1-24 was in charge of implementing prime business strategies in missiles 2-1 and electronics; and 2-2 WHEREAS, From 1989 to 1995, he demonstrated successfully 2-3 ERINT as a complementary missile for the Patriot system and 2-4 won downselect decision for the PAC-3 missile to protect the 2-5 United States Army and our allies from weapons of mass destruction; 2-6 and 2-7 WHEREAS, From 1996 to 1998, Dr. Wells led and organized 2-8 development of new business initiatives for Vought within the 2-9 new Lockheed Martin Corporation, and he retired from Lockheed 2-10 Martin Vought Systems Corporation as Senior Vice President of 2-11 Business Development in 1998; and 2-12 WHEREAS, On April 9, 1997, this outstanding gentleman 2-13 represented Lockheed Martin Vought Systems at the State Capitol 2-14 for Lockheed Martin Day; now, therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-16 76th Legislature, hereby congratulate Curtis S.
