1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 672 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-4 recognizing the first anniversary of Montgomery County Hospital 1-5 District's reassumption of Emergency Medical Services for the 1-6 citizens of Montgomery County on April 20, 1999; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Focusing the district's resources on quality patient 1-8 care and customer service for citizens and visitors to the county, 1-9 the Montgomery County Hospital District Emergency Medical Service 1-10 has implemented a system-wide improvement program centered on 1-11 accountability to the patient and the community; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Rejoicing over multiple CPR rescues and other 1-13 critical interventions which have restored patients to their 1-14 families, the Montgomery County Hospital District Emergency 1-15 Medical Service has provided extensive community outreach; 1-16 educating children to dial 911 using Andy the Ambulance and 1-17 Twinkle the Clown, it has reached 5,000 children in area schools; 1-18 and 1-19 WHEREAS, Providing Driving While Intoxicated awareness programs 1-20 around the county to area high schools to prevent needless tragedy, 1-21 the Emergency Medical Service has furnished CPR certification for 1-22 over 300 laypersons, thereby increasing the possibility of citizens' 1-23 survival in an emergency; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Joining area hospitals and school health programs 2-1 in providing educational classes for pediatrics, trauma, and 2-2 cardiac emergencies, the Emergency Medical Service has expanded 2-3 the Automated External Defibrillator First Response to 95 percent 2-4 of the county, thus increasing the chances of surviving a heart 2-5 attack; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Supplying on-site coverage for community activities 2-7 within the county, including special events such as the County Fair, 2-8 Fourth of July, Old WestFest, Catfish Festival, and the Shell Houston 2-9 Open, the Emergency Medical Service has made a substantial difference 2-10 in the safety of the citizens of Montgomery County; and 2-11 WHEREAS, The Montgomery County Hospital District 2-12 Emergency Medical Service Operations Manager was awarded both 2-13 the Greater Houston EMS Council Administrator of the Year and the 2-14 Administrator of the Year award for the State of Texas because of 2-15 his extraordinary leadership in reassuming the Emergency Medical 2-16 Service for the Montgomery County Hospital District; now, therefore, 2-17 be it 2-18 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-19 76th Legislature, hereby commend the accomplishments of the 2-20 Montgomery County Hospital District Emergency Medical Service; 2-21 and, be it further 2-22 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-23 for the district as an expression of the highest regard of the 2-24 Texas Senate. 2-25 Bernsen 2-26 ______________________________________ 2-27 President of the Senate 3-1 I hereby certify that the above 3-2 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-3 on April 19, 1999. 3-4 ______________________________________ 3-5 Secretary of the Senate 3-6 ______________________________________ 3-7 Member, Texas Senate
