1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 686 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing the Hondo High School Student Council on its many 1-4 accomplishments; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Over the last three years, the Hondo High School 1-6 Student Council has earned a number of honors at both the District 1-7 XV and state levels; it was named Outstanding Council and received 1-8 Outstanding Recognition for its Drug, Alcohol, Safety, and Health 1-9 projects and for its Pride and Patriotism projects; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The council's crowning achievement has been earning 1-11 the title of president of the Texas Association of Student Councils' 1-12 District XV this year; since Hondo High School is a 3A school, the 1-13 council was competing with councils of larger schools for the honor 1-14 of this position; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The members of the Hondo High School Student Council 1-16 are talented and industrious students who strive for excellence in 1-17 all of their endeavors; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The council is fortunate to have a remarkably 1-19 able sponsor, Linda Perkins; Linda's exceptional leadership 1-20 has benefitted the council for the last seven years; she is an 1-21 outstanding teacher and has served as the University Interscholastic 1-22 League Lincoln-Douglas debating team sponsor; and 1-23 WHEREAS, The members of this exceptional student council 1-24 are Justin Barlow, Sherry Brambila, Jessica Garcia, Ray Garza, 2-1 Megan Height, Scott Highsmith, Paul Jacobs, Jennifer Wharton, 2-2 Stephanie Martinez, Lara Neeley, Tara Neeley, Anthony Perez, 2-3 Francesca Rodriguez, Felipe Sanchez, Travis Turner, and 2-4 Zeb Wright; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Its current officers are Michael Howard, president, 2-6 Paloma Alaniz, vice-president, Stephanie Rodriguez, secretary, 2-7 Ariana Rodriguez, treasurer, Whitten Smart, reporter, Craig Neeley, 2-8 chaplain, Karina Salinas, photographer, Kyle Jones, historian, 2-9 Rebecca Robles, sergeant-at-arms, and Robby Rodriguez, outstanding 2-10 council chairperson; now, therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-12 76th Legislature, hereby commend the Hondo High School Student 2-13 Council on its many achievements and its contributions to the school 2-14 and the community and extend best wishes to its members, officers, 2-15 and sponsor for continued success; and, be it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-17 council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-18 Madla 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 President of the Senate 2-21 I hereby certify that the above 2-22 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-23 on April 20, 1999. 2-24 ______________________________________ 2-25 Secretary of the Senate 2-26 ______________________________________ 2-27 Member, Texas Senate
