1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 687 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Linda Perkins of Hondo High School for her impressive 1-4 success in improving the operation of the student council in her 1-5 school; and 1-6 WHEREAS, In the Hondo Independent School District, 1-7 Mrs. Perkins was the sponsor of the student council at the middle 1-8 school level for eight years and for seven years at the high 1-9 school level; and 1-10 WHEREAS, This devoted teacher has helped the student council 1-11 improve so that it has earned the title of Outstanding Council, 1-12 and its projects have won the designation Outstanding Drug, 1-13 Alcohol, Safety, and Health Project and Outstanding Pride and 1-14 Patriotism Project at the District XV and state levels; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Making these designations even more impressive is 1-16 the fact that Hondo High School is a 3A school, and yet it has 1-17 beaten larger schools for the position of President of the Texas 1-18 Association of Student Councils District XV; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Mrs. Perkins has also donated her time and energy 1-20 to other school activities such as sponsoring the University 1-21 Interscholastic League's Lincoln-Douglas debate for the debating 1-22 team and co-directing the One Act Play; and 1-23 WHEREAS, This dedicated teacher gives her time to the Hondo 1-24 Owl Band; she teaches one of the few dual enrollment courses, 2-1 through technological means, allowing students to earn high school 2-2 credit and college credit, and she is able to teach at three 2-3 different schools from the high school; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Greatly involved with her church, community, and 2-5 school, Linda Perkins has truly made great things possible for 2-6 many Texas citizens; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 76th Legislature, hereby congratulate the student council at Hondo 2-9 High School for its accomplishments and honor Linda Perkins for her 2-10 considerable contributions to many Texas young people; and, be it 2-11 further 2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an 2-13 expression of the great esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-14 Madla 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on April 20, 1999. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
