1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 700 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-4 join the citizens of Houston in honoring Wayne B. Duddlesten on 1-5 receiving the Houston Association of Realtors Hall of Fame Award; 1-6 and 1-7 WHEREAS, The award honors outstanding individuals who have 1-8 made significant contributions to the Houston commercial real 1-9 estate community; and 1-10 WHEREAS, There have been only six other realtors presented 1-11 with this honor; this select group has been chosen from the 12,000 1-12 members of the largest realtor association in the country; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Houstonian by birth, Mr. Duddlesten has always 1-14 been known for his hard work and dedication to excellence; his 1-15 illustrious career spans more than 44 years in office, retail, 1-16 hotel, and multifamily construction and development; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Under his capable leadership, the regional 1-18 advertising agency and general contracting firm that he founded 1-19 brought him much acclaim; Tex-Craft Builders was listed in Fortune 1-20 magazine's top 200 construction firms; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Mr. Duddlesten is a man of vision and foresight; 1-22 as a result of his impetus, a united effort was begun to bring 1-23 a professional basketball team to the area; in 1971, the Houston 1-24 Rockets began their first season in the newly erected Summit; and 2-1 WHEREAS, In 1964, the Houston Chamber of Commerce named him 2-2 "Outstanding Young Man of the Year"; in 1986 he was the recipient 2-3 of the Anti-Defamation League's Humanitarian Award; he was a Hall 2-4 of Fame honoree for the Houston Apartment Association in 1992; and 2-5 WHEREAS, A well-known civic leader, Mr. Duddlesten has 2-6 contributed his time and energy to multiple causes; a former 2-7 board and executive committee member of the Greater Houston 2-8 Partnership, Mr. Duddlesten was a trustee of the University of 2-9 Houston Foundation; actively involved as a national trustee of 2-10 the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine, 2-11 he was a board member of a women's residential treatment facility, 2-12 Passages; and 2-13 WHEREAS, Well respected and valued in the business 2-14 and civic communities, this distinguished gentleman has made 2-15 invaluable contributions to his city, his state, and his country; 2-16 now, therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-18 76th Legislature, hereby commend Wayne B.
