 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 726
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Northeast Texas Crime Victims' Rights Conference
 1-4     is being held on April 27 and 28, 1999, in Tyler, Texas, and the
 1-5     Texas Senate joins the citizens there in honoring all those who
 1-6     have died because of violent crime in Smith County, Texas; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, A memorial service for all the past victims in
 1-8     Smith County, Texas, will be held on April 25, 1999, at the
 1-9     T. B. Butler Plaza across from the Smith County Courthouse at
1-10     6:00 p.m.; and
1-11           WHEREAS, The first annual service will include messages from
1-12     Smith County Judge Larry Craig, Judge Diane DeVasto of the
1-13     241st District Court, Criminal District Attorney Jack Skeen, Jr.,
1-14     and Smith County Sheriff J. B. Smith; and
1-15           WHEREAS, The remembrance service presents an opportunity for
1-16     relatives to remember their friends and loved ones and pay tribute
1-17     to them; the service will be held, and a cross and flowers will be
1-18     placed on the plaza to show love and respect; and
1-19           WHEREAS, The New Generations Youth Choir will sing, and
1-20     entertainment will be provided by Abigail Fender and Stacy Gibson;
1-21     the honor guard will be formed from the Star Camp Color Guard; now,
1-22     therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
1-24     76th Legislature, hereby offer sincere condolences to the families
 2-1     and friends of the victims of violent crime in Smith County; and,
 2-2     be it further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a
 2-4     memento of this solemn occasion.
