1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 732
 1-2           WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Senate join the citizens of
 1-3     Graham, Texas, and the entire State of Texas in expressing genuine
 1-4     pride and great admiration for the extraordinary acts of heroism
 1-5     of Bo Mahler; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, On March 15, 1999, Mrs. Cyndi Martin and her two
 1-7     sons were enjoying the sidewalk trails in Fireman's Park; the
 1-8     boys were riding their bicycles when 3-1/2 year old John missed a
 1-9     turn and plunged into Salt Creek; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Reacting to the dangerous situation, his mother
1-11     instinctively jumped into the creek to try and save her son;
1-12     realizing that neither she nor John could swim, she began to
1-13     scream for help; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Responding immediately to the cries he heard,
1-15     Bo Mahler jumped into the water, rescuing both John and his
1-16     mother; and
1-17           WHEREAS, In the performance of this selfless act, Bo Mahler
1-18     brought honor to himself, his family, and his state; it is truly
1-19     an inspiration to us all that such compassion and selflessness
1-20     exist in the world today; and
1-21           WHEREAS, It is fitting that the Texas Senate commend the
1-22     valor of Bo Mahler and recognize his courageous act that returned
1-23     Cyndi and John safely to their family; now, therefore, be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-1     76th Legislature, applaud the undaunted courage of Bo Mahler and
 2-2     express its appreciation to him; and, be it further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 2-4     him as a token of the deepest respect and highest regard of the
 2-5     Texas Senate.
