1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 738
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 1-3     Congregation Beth Torah and the Dallas-Plano community in honoring
 1-4     Esther Cohen; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Born in postwar Germany, Esther is the child of
 1-6     Ruth and Saul Malc, who were concentration camp survivors; today,
 1-7     we see in Esther her parents' selfsame persevering spirit; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Esther married Nat Cohen in 1967; after the
 1-9     birth of their children, Robyn and Michael, the family moved first
1-10     to San Antonio in 1979 and then to Dallas six years later; and
1-11           WHEREAS, The State of Texas is indeed fortunate to
1-12     have Esther among its citizens; her tireless volunteer work has
1-13     improved the lives of countless citizens; Esther is a testimony to
1-14     the dynamic positive power inherent when extraordinary motivation
1-15     unites with righteous purpose; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Nowhere has Esther's impact been more profound
1-17     than on the congregation of Beth Torah; her love for children has
1-18     resulted in one of her grandest accomplishments, the establishment
1-19     and leadership of the synagogue's esteemed preschool program; her
1-20     energy undaunted, Esther manages to serve, in so many other ways,
1-21     as a valuable resource to the people of Beth Torah; she is their
1-22     charming hostess, their trusted counselor, their able chef, and
1-23     their loving friend; Esther is a treasure; now, therefore, be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-1     76th Legislature, hereby honor Esther Cohen for her numerous worthy
 2-2     endeavors on behalf of her fellow citizens; and, be it further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 2-4     her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
