1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 784 1-2 WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is pleased to recognize 1-3 Jesse Robert Reeves Fowler for earning his black belt in Ba Ki Do 1-4 Karate on April 9, 1999; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Nine-year-old Jesse received his belt during a 1-6 special ceremony on April 10, 1999; and 1-7 WHEREAS, With diligence and determination, this talented 1-8 young man trained hard at Ba Ki Do for five years to earn his black 1-9 belt, and Jesse has received 10 karate belts on his long journey to 1-10 the highly revered black belt; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Jesse consistently maintained a 90 percent or better 1-12 grade average during this time and performed chores at home to 1-13 show the respect, hard work, and cooperation required of a karate 1-14 student; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Jesse greatly appreciates the guidance of 1-16 Sensei Michael Bainton, Sensei Scott Bainton, and particularly 1-17 Sensei Kristene Newcomb; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Only one out of every 500 martial arts students 1-19 achieves black belt status, which is equivalent to earning a college 1-20 degree in the amount of time and effort required; and 1-21 WHEREAS, His family, which includes his mother, Deb, his 1-22 father, Doug, his stepmother, Karen, his brother, Jacob, his 1-23 sisters, Alyssa and Kira, and his aunts, Ann and Kathy, and several 1-24 of his schoolteachers were present when Jesse passed the grueling 2-1 test for his karate black belt; his stepbrother, Josh, earned his 2-2 black belt the same evening; his relatives and friends are proud of 2-3 his significant accomplishment; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-5 76th Legislature, hereby congratulate Jesse Robert Reeves Fowler 2-6 for receiving his black belt in Ba Ki Do Karate; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him 2-8 as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate. 2-9 Barrientos 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the above 2-13 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-14 on April 29, 1999. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
