1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 827
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Texas Environmental Excellence Awards are
 1-3     being presented on May 4, 1999, and this auspicious occasion
 1-4     provides a fitting opportunity to recognize the proud recipients
 1-5     of these prestigious accolades for their dedicated efforts to
 1-6     protect and conserve our state's natural resources; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Nominated by a blue ribbon committee and selected
 1-8     by the Office of the Governor and the commissioners of the Texas
 1-9     Natural Resource Conservation Commission, these award-winning
1-10     Texans have voluntarily endeavored to preserve our state's
1-11     natural resources by preventing pollution, minimizing waste,
1-12     conserving water, reducing energy consumption, and protecting
1-13     wildlife; and
1-14           WHEREAS, The 1999 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards
1-15     recipients include the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station,
1-16     Texas Agricultural Extension Service, USDA-Agricultural Research
1-17     Service, Central Texas Recycling Association, East Central
1-18     Independent School District and Heritage Middle School, Fort Hood,
1-19     Rod Hale, Reliant Energy, Habitat Suites, FHA Thrall Chapter/Earth
1-20     2000, Holloway Middle School National Junior Honor Society,
1-21     Dow Chemical Company, Texas Operations, and Motorola-Austin; and
1-22           WHEREAS, These winners are also sharing their knowledge,
1-23     technology, and expertise to educate other Texans as to how
1-24     they may protect the environment in their communities, and their
 2-1     leadership will undoubtedly prove vital in preserving our state's
 2-2     natural resources for future generations; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-4     76th Legislature, hereby recognize May 4, 1999, as Texas
 2-5     Environmental Excellence Awards Day at the State Capitol and
 2-6     commend the award recipients for their exemplary efforts in
 2-7     behalf of the Lone Star State; and, be it further
 2-8           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
 2-9     prepared for the award winners as an expression of high regard
2-10     by the Texas Senate.
