                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas Environmental Excellence Awards are being
 1-2     presented on May 4, 1999, and this auspicious occasion provides a
 1-3     fitting opportunity to recognize the proud recipients of these
 1-4     prestigious accolades for their dedicated efforts to protect and
 1-5     conserve our state's natural resources; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Nominated by a blue ribbon committee and selected by
 1-7     the Office of the Governor and the commissioners of the Texas
 1-8     Natural Resource Conservation Commission, these award-winning
 1-9     Texans have voluntarily endeavored to preserve our state's natural
1-10     resources by preventing pollution, minimizing waste, conserving
1-11     water, reducing energy consumption, and protecting wildlife; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The 1999 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards
1-13     recipients include the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, Texas
1-14     Agricultural Extension Service, USDA-Agricultural Research Service,
1-15     Central Texas Recycling Association, East Central Independent
1-16     School District and Heritage Middle School, Fort Hood, Rod Hale,
1-17     Reliant Energy, Habitat Suites, FHA Thrall Chapter/Earth 2000,
1-18     Holloway Middle School National Junior Honor Society, Dow Chemical
1-19     Company, Texas Operations, and Motorola-Austin; and
1-20           WHEREAS, These winners are also sharing their knowledge,
1-21     technology, and expertise to educate other Texans as to how they
1-22     may protect the environment in their communities, and their
1-23     leadership will undoubtedly prove vital in preserving our state's
1-24     natural resources for future generations; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 76th Texas Legislature
 2-2     hereby recognize May 4, 1999, as Texas Environmental Excellence
 2-3     Awards Day at the State Capitol and commend the award recipients
 2-4     for their exemplary efforts in behalf of the Lone Star State; and,
 2-5     be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for the award winners as an expression of high regard by
 2-8     the Texas Senate.
