1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 838
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-3     recognize the Cathedral High School Swim Team, which recently won
 1-4     the Texas Christian Interscholastic League State Championship; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, This swimming championship was the school's 14th
 1-6     win in the last 16 years; the team beat the runner-up swim team by
 1-7     over 100 points and won nine of the 11 events; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, The swim team won the 200 individual medley, a
 1-9     first and second place in the 200 freestyle, first and second in
1-10     the 100 fly, first place in the 100 freestyle, first place in the
1-11     100 breaststroke, second place in the 50 freestyle, and first and
1-12     second place in the 500 freestyle race; and
1-13           WHEREAS, A sophomore set a state record in the 100 backstroke
1-14     with a 52.02, breaking a record set in 1993; and
1-15           WHEREAS, The victory was especially sweet because
1-16     Leo Cancellare, principal of the high school and one of the swim
1-17     coaches, was able to attend the meet and present the team with their
1-18     plaque; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Deserving of recognition, the talented members
1-20     of the Cathedral High School Swim Team, Nathan Bartlett,
1-21     Daniel Brown, Aaron Chiu, Jacobo Chiu, Randon Curlin, Tom Dean,
1-22     Andy Donovan, Andy Edmunds, Greg Edmunds, Josh Estevan,
1-23     Ryan Fulton, Charles Gaddy, Marcos Hernandez, Gabe Hernandez,
 2-1     Taylor Keim, Wade Klein, Miguel Lopez, Adrian Loya, Chris Mandell,
 2-2     Jake Norton, Guillermo Ortiz, Aaron Rodriguez, Carlos Salazar,
 2-3     Justin Smith, Isaac Samari, Ira Walker, and Calvin Zielsdorf,
 2-4     exhibited awesome talent and drive; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Cathedral High School's capture of the state title
 2-6     has clearly demonstrated the team's winning spirit, discipline, and
 2-7     courage; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-9     76th Legislature, hereby commend the swim team of Cathedral High
2-10     School on winning the state championship and bringing honor to
2-11     their school and community; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-13     team as an expression of the highest regard of the Texas Senate.
