 1-4                                     of
 1-5                            Harry L. Hussmann III
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate joins the citizens of El Paso in
 1-7     mourning the loss of Harry L. Hussmann III, who died April 17, 1999,
 1-8     at the age of 73; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Harry Hussmann attended Austin High School in
1-10     El Paso and graduated from New Mexico Military Institute and the
1-11     United States Naval Academy; he earned his bachelor of science
1-12     degree in aeronautical engineering and earned master's degrees
1-13     in nuclear engineering and international relations; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Harry Hussmann was a retired Navy commander
1-15     and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War; he served
1-16     as a thermodynamics instructor and as a lacrosse coach at the
1-17     United States Naval Academy in Annapolis; he flew more than
1-18     5,000 hours, including more than 200 carrier landings, during
1-19     his career; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Mr. Hussmann retired from the Navy in 1970 and
1-21     returned to El Paso, where he became president of a real estate
1-22     investment firm, Harry L. Hussmann, Jr., Incorporated; and
1-23           WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,
1-24     Harry Hussmann was respected for his many accomplishments and
 2-1     for his leadership in the community; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Active in numerous civic organizations, he was a
 2-3     past president of the Rotary Club of El Paso and past director
 2-4     of Montwood National Bank; he was selected as the 1998-1999
 2-5     Rotarian of the Year; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
 2-7     gave unselfishly  of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
 2-8     and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
 2-9           WHEREAS, Harry Hussmann was a devoted husband, father, and
2-10     grandfather who lived his life to the fullest, and he leaves behind
2-11     memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many
2-12     friends; now, therefore, be it
2-13           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-14     76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
2-15     family of Harry L. Hussmann III:  his wife, Doris; his daughter,
2-16     June Hussmann Peterson; his sons, Harry Thomas Hussmann and
2-17     Steven E. Hussmann; his brother, Tom G. Hussmann; and his two
2-18     grandchildren; and, be it further
2-19           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-20     for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
2-21     from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
2-22     it do so in memory of Harry L. Hussmann III.
