1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 849 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 recognize the five volunteer mentors affiliated with the law firm 1-4 of Bracewell and Patterson in Austin and the students who have been 1-5 mentored by these outstanding volunteers; this select group will be 1-6 visiting the State Capitol on Thursday, May 6, 1999; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The five individuals who have been academically 1-8 mentoring the students are Ryan Botkin, Desiree Botkin, Rod Johnson, 1-9 Patricia de la Pena, and Lillian Alaniz; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The students who have made so much academic progress 1-11 as a result of their active participation are all in the sixth 1-12 grade; they are: Nicholas McKim, Leanna McGrath, Vivian Gonzales, 1-13 Brian Lopez, and Ashley Muriella; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The importance of adult attention in the life of a 1-15 young person cannot be overemphasized; and 1-16 WHEREAS, It is vital that each child see that success can 1-17 be achieved and know adults who have succeeded in their lives and 1-18 careers; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-20 76th Legislature, hereby congratulate the five sixth graders and 1-21 their mentors for their significant accomplishments and welcome 1-22 them heartily to the State Capitol on May 6, 1999; and, be it 1-23 further 1-24 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them 2-1 as an expression of the admiration and esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-2 Barrientos 2-3 ______________________________________ 2-4 President of the Senate 2-5 I hereby certify that the above 2-6 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-7 on May 5, 1999. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 Secretary of the Senate 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 Member, Texas Senate
