 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-4     recognize the Senior Orchestra of Corpus Christi; this energetic
 1-5     ensemble's stellar performances have delighted audiences throughout
 1-6     the Gulf Coast; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Founded in 1997 by Chairman of the Board of
 1-8     Directors Alicia A. Charo, the Senior Orchestra of Corpus Christi is
 1-9     comprised of musicians aged 50 and older who perform voluntarily for
1-10     senior-citizen events and special occasions in Texas' communities;
1-11     the Senior Orchestra of Corpus Christi strives to showcase senior
1-12     citizens' musical talents, to promote and foster their self-esteem
1-13     through musical expression, and to instill an appreciation and love
1-14     for music in communities near and far; through their efforts, the
1-15     orchestra hopes to promote a positive image of aging; and
1-16           WHEREAS, The Senior Orchestra is comprised of Founder and
1-17     Chairman Alicia A. Charo, Director Alejandro Charo, Sr., Juan Pena,
1-18     Charlie Boeckman, Patti Boeckman, Elivira Cisneros, Noel Hernandez,
1-19     Pete Salazar, Gerald Cheetham, Evert Karel, Eliseo Reyes, Al Nelson,
1-20     Don Haynes, Brenda Green, Don Bodine, Manuela Newman, Rosalinda Pena,
1-21     R. C. Wilson, Arturo Cortez, Juan Alvarado, Jim Pierce, Al Arredondo,
1-22     Anna Assarian, Jim Ryland, Charles McIntyre, Hector Garza, Pat Kluge,
1-23     Peggy Brasfield, Curtis M. Williams, Wilson Wakefield, Gabe Escobar,
1-24     Carl Wilson, Jackie Larrivee, Lou Gagniere, Grant Joos, Josie Lozano,
 2-1     Wayne Campbell, Frank DeLos Santos, Reno Charo, Sonny Hinojosa,
 2-2     and Mike Miller, 10 of which are vocalists, who are conducted by
 2-3     Alejandro Charo; the group boasts an eclectic repertoire, from
 2-4     Big Band to Spanish, German, and French tunes, with musicians from
 2-5     England, Holland, and France, adding international flair to
 2-6     performances; and
 2-7           WHEREAS, This group's dynamism has garnered exciting
 2-8     opportunities to perform outside of Texas; the orchestra is
 2-9     currently planning performances in both England and Mexico and
2-10     will play at the state capitol in Austin during the
2-11     76th Texas Legislature; and
2-12           WHEREAS, Playing a pivotal role in the success of the
2-13     chorus are Vice Chair Dr. Jeff Stannard, Secretary Judy Palmer,
2-14     Treasurer Ruth Marlar, and Dorothy Earwood, Public Relations,
2-15     Buddy Bell, Arlene Williams, Maria Medina, Victor Martinez,
2-16     Roland Guerra, and Luis Alvarado; and
2-17           WHEREAS, The Senior Orchestra of Corpus Christi has
2-18     abundant enthusiasm and steadfast purpose; as part of a nonprofit
2-19     organization, members receive ample compensation for their efforts
2-20     in the high spirits of audiences they entertain; the efforts of
2-21     these musicians to promote a positive image of aging, to develop
2-22     music appreciation in Texas, and to spread cheer amongst orchestra
2-23     members and audiences truly deserve praise; now, therefore, be it
2-24           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-25     76th Legislature, hereby recognize the Corpus Christi Senior
2-26     Orchestra as Goodwill Ambassadors of Texas; and, be it further
 3-1           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this
 3-2     grand orchestra as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
