 1-3           WHEREAS, On May 8, 1999, Angela Lois Green and
 1-4     Alexander Todd Hewlett will be united in holy matrimony at
 1-5     Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in Houston, where the
 1-6     Reverend L. James Bankston will perform the lovely candlelight
 1-7     double-ring ceremony at 7:00 p.m.; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, The daughter of United States Congressman and
 1-9     Mrs. Gene Green of Houston, Angela is the granddaughter of
1-10     Mrs. Mildred Albers and the late Leon Albers of Houston and of
1-11     Mr. and Mrs. Garland Green of Bedford, Pennsylvania; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hewlett of
1-13     Tucson, Arizona, the groom is the grandson of the late
1-14     Mr. and Mrs. Frank Watkins and the late Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hewlett,
1-15     both of Tucson, Arizona; and
1-16           WHEREAS, A 1993 honor graduate of Aldine High School in
1-17     Houston, Angela was a member of the honor society and president
1-18     of the student council; she earned a bachelor of arts degree in
1-19     Biology at The University of Texas at Austin in 1998, where she
1-20     was a Robert C. Byrd Honor Scholar; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Presently a second-year medical student at
1-22     The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, she was
1-23     recently elected President of the American Medical Students
1-24     Association; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, A 1992 graduate of Sabino High School in
 2-2     Tucson, Arizona, Alex was a member of the Sabino Sabercats state
 2-3     championship football team; in 1996 he earned his bachelor of arts
 2-4     degree in Chemistry from Pomona College in Claremont, California,
 2-5     where he played football for the Pomona College Sagehens; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, The winner of the Tucson Osteopathic Foundation
 2-7     Scholars Award in 1997, Alex is a fourth-year medical student at
 2-8     Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio;
 2-9     and
2-10           WHEREAS, As Angela and Alex begin their life together, the
2-11     relatives and friends of both young people are quite pleased that
2-12     the two families will soon be united through marriage; now,
2-13     therefore, be it
2-14           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-15     76th Legislature, hereby congratulate Angela Lois Green and
2-16     Alexander Todd Hewlett on their forthcoming marriage; and, be it
2-17     further
2-18           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-19     fortunate couple as an expression of the highest regard of the
2-20     Texas Senate.
