 1-2                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 894
 1-3           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
 1-4     recognizing Cynthia Tauss for her substantial contributions as
 1-5     Chairman of the Galveston County Republican Party; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Houston at
 1-7     Clear Lake, Mrs. Tauss received her bachelor of science degree
 1-8     in American Jurisprudence; she has been a consultant for several
 1-9     different political campaigns and organizations; and
1-10           WHEREAS, A noted political activist, Mrs. Tauss was the
1-11     Chairman of the Galveston County Republican Party from 1993 to
1-12     1997, the Fund-Raising Event Coordinator for the 1994 campaign
1-13     of State Senator Jerry Patterson, and the 1994 Chairman of the
1-14     George W. Bush Galveston County Campaign; and
1-15           WHEREAS, A woman who has planned and coordinated many major
1-16     events and special activities for various associations and clubs,
1-17     Cynthia Tauss has also researched and written press releases and
1-18     commentaries for newspapers and area organizations; and
1-19           WHEREAS, A concerned and active citizen, she is a member
1-20     of the Galveston County Juvenile Crime Participatory Council,
1-21     a member of Justice for All, a member of the National Crime
1-22     Victims Association, and a board member of the Texas Federation
1-23     of Republican Women; and
1-24           WHEREAS, The Regional Director of the Texas Association of
 2-1     County Chairmen from 1994 to 1997, Mrs. Tauss has served on the
 2-2     Galveston County Juvenile Crime Task Force and has been the Youth
 2-3     Outreach Director of Lakeside Lutheran Church; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, Cynthia Tauss won the 1994 Distinguished Service
 2-5     Award of the League City Police Department, and in 1993 and 1994,
 2-6     she won the National Night Out Service Awards from League City;
 2-7     in 1994 and 1996, she was a Texas Federation of Republican Women
 2-8     Tribute to Women Honoree, and she is a member of Alpha Chi Honor
 2-9     Society; and
2-10           WHEREAS, Throughout her many activities, she has enjoyed the
2-11     love and support of her loyal husband of 26 years, Gerhart, and
2-12     their two children, Gerhart, Jr., and Erica; and
2-13           WHEREAS, The citizens of League City, Galveston County, and
2-14     the State of Texas have greatly benefitted from the outstanding
2-15     contributions of Mrs. Tauss; now, therefore, be it
2-16           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-17     76th Legislature, hereby commend Cynthia Tauss for her generous
2-18     donations of time and energy; and, be it further
2-19           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
2-20     as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
