1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 895 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in 1-4 recognizing the members of the Mustang Division of the Round Rock 1-5 Shockers on their victory in the 1998 Pony Slow Pitch Softball 10th 1-6 National Tournament; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Nine and 10 years old, the Round Rock Shockers 1-8 qualified for the national tournament by winning the Sectional 1-9 Tournament in San Antonio and by winning the Regional Tournament 1-10 in Castroville, Texas, with a record of four wins and one loss; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The Shockers went into the playoffs after defeating 1-12 Crowley, Louisiana; they defeated New Braunfels in the playoff game 1-13 13-3, qualifying for the championship game against Rayne, Louisiana; 1-14 the Shockers defeated Rayne in a tremendous 12-4 victory and took 1-15 the championship title home to Round Rock; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The success of the team is a tribute to the guidance 1-17 and inspiration of Manager Aaron Cluck, Coach Jimmy Stried, and 1-18 Coach Rene Salas; and 1-19 WHEREAS, The talented players on this championship team are 1-20 Brittany Cluck, Tara Eckert, Jenna Fowler, Meredith Griffin, 1-21 Shelley McNamee, Ashley Ridlehoover, Kimrey Salas, Kelsey Smith, 1-22 Stephanie Stried, Stephanie Turner, Ashley Wallace, Jessica Watts, 1-23 and Tiffany Williams; and 1-24 WHEREAS, The Shockers team was the second in the Sertoma 2-1 League history to win the national championship; the team played 2-2 19 games with 18 wins and one loss and outscored opponents 290-114; 2-3 and 2-4 WHEREAS, Exhibiting perseverance, team unity, and respect 2-5 for the highest ideals of American sportsmanship, the members of 2-6 the Shockers team have brought honor to their families and the 2-7 Round Rock community; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 76th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the Round Rock Shockers 2-10 on their remarkable season and their capture of the championship 2-11 title in the 1998 Pony Slow Pitch Softball 10th National Tournament; 2-12 and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this 2-14 outstanding team as a token of high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-15 Ogden, Cain 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 President of the Senate 2-18 I hereby certify that the above 2-19 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-20 on May 10, 1999. 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 Secretary of the Senate 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 Member, Texas Senate 2-25 ______________________________________ 2-26 Member, Texas Senate
