1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 912
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is very proud to
 1-3     recognize Barton Escamilla who is graduating from John Marshall
 1-4     High School in San Antonio; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, After years of hard work, dedication, and
 1-6     perseverance, Barton has accomplished the goal he set for himself;
 1-7     and
 1-8           WHEREAS, The family and friends of this extremely
 1-9     bright young man are justly proud of his academic and athletic
1-10     accomplishments:  he is a National Hispanic Scholar and a Macy's
1-11     Scholar and a member of the Spanish and National honor societies;
1-12     Barton received the National Achievement Academy Award and was
1-13     inducted into Mu Alpha Theta; and
1-14           WHEREAS, A talented athlete, he garnered the District
1-15     Most Valuable Player award, was elected captain of the football
1-16     team, was named to the Academic All-State Team, and received the
1-17     All-Academic Team award; and
1-18           WHEREAS, On completing the requirements for graduation from
1-19     high school, Barton will embark on an adventure that could lead
1-20     him to Oklahoma University, where he has already been accepted; and
1-21           WHEREAS, It is a pleasure for the Texas Senate to recognize
1-22     the achievements of this intelligent and personable young man who
1-23     has equipped himself with skills that will enable him to take full
1-24     advantage of all that the future holds; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-2     76th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Barton Escamilla
 2-3     as he looks forward to the years ahead; and, be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
 2-5     as a memento of this special time in his life and as an expression
 2-6     of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
