1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 946 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly recognizes 1-4 the outstanding accomplishments of the members of the Nederland 1-5 Bulldogs boys soccer team; their many victories in this year's 1-6 soccer season are worthy of praise; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The Nederland Bulldogs consistently exhibited great 1-8 skill on the soccer field; more abundant than their skill, however, 1-9 was the players' passion for their sport and their determination 1-10 to succeed; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Their bold and masterful playing secured the 1-12 Bulldogs a chance to play in the 4A championship game; the team 1-13 was elated to be one of the championship's two surviving finalists, 1-14 as it was a privilege they fought long and hard for; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The Bulldogs earned their passage to the state 1-16 championship by outplaying and outshooting several worthy opponents; 1-17 in particular, their semifinal game against Coppell was a hard-won 1-18 victory; as always, the Bulldogs' adept ability to persevere in a 1-19 shootout landed them an overtime victory which heralded their 1-20 advancement to the championship game; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Head Coach Jorge Lopez and his assistant 1-22 Patrick Batubenge instilled in the players a commitment to 2-1 excellence; under their direction, the team was able to maintain 2-2 the discipline necessary to develop the stellar skills needed to 2-3 succeed in such a competitive sport; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Exhibiting perseverance, team unity, and respect 2-5 for the highest ideals of American sportsmanship, Brent Robbins, 2-6 Brad Breaux, Cody Robinson, Dustin Britt, Davy Arnaud, 2-7 Jeremy Watson, Nick Zumo, Will Tawney, Juan Ochoa, Ryan Sheffield, 2-8 Stephen Andrews, Matt Fleming, Jacob Bryce, Shane Coussou, 2-9 Curtis Tinsley, Benji Sticker, Jake Dupuis, Jeremy Jones, 2-10 Michael Mitchell, Josh Mecom, Cory Woodson, Sean Seymour, 2-11 Shawn Cauthen, Brian Pomeroy, Paul Pedigo, Will Larrain, 2-12 Lance Watson, and Drew Gallagher have brought honor to the 2-13 Nederland community, their high school, and their families; now, 2-14 therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-16 76th Legislature, hereby commend the Nederland High School 2-17 boys soccer team on their many victories and honors and extend 2-18 congratulations to Coach Lopez and to each of the players on 2-19 their exceptional season; and, be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-21 team as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-22 Bernsen 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 President of the Senate 2-25 I hereby certify that the above 2-26 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-27 on May 11, 1999. 2-28 ______________________________________ 2-29 Secretary of the Senate 3-1 ______________________________________ 3-2 Member, Texas Senate
