1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 963 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 recognize the 62nd Anniversary of the Oil Bowl Football Classic; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Each year this classic matches the best football 1-6 players from Texas and Oklahoma; proceeds from the event benefit 1-7 charities in both states; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Volunteers in Texas and Oklahoma have dedicated 1-9 countless hours to prepare for the 1999 Oil Bowl; players, coaches, 1-10 trainers, doctors, officials, and announcers have worked with this 1-11 year's cosponsors, Maskat Shrine Temple and India Shrine Temple of 1-12 Oklahoma City, to insure a successful event; and 1-13 WHEREAS, One-half of all proceeds from this year's Oil Bowl 1-14 will go to the Oklahoma Crippled Children's Society, while the 1-15 other half will benefit several Wichita Falls area charities; and 1-16 WHEREAS, In conjunction with the Oil Bowl, there will be 1-17 a Hall of Fame Banquet the evening of Friday, June 18, before 1-18 Saturday's game; this year's inductee into the Hall of Fame is 1-19 Mike Renfro, a former Dallas Cowboy; and 1-20 WHEREAS, No doubt, this year's Oil Bowl will be an exciting 1-21 and successful affair, and the charitable contributions will 2-1 benefit citizens of both Texas and Oklahoma; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 76th Legislature, honor the organizers of the 1999 Oil Bowl 2-4 Football Classic and commend their philanthropic goals; and, be 2-5 it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a 2-7 memento of this notable event. 2-8 Haywood 2-9 ______________________________________ 2-10 President of the Senate 2-11 I hereby certify that the above 2-12 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-13 on May 12, 1999. 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Secretary of the Senate 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Member, Texas Senate
