1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 990 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing Colonel John N. Jasper, who is retiring after nearly 1-4 30 years of loyal service in the United States Air Force; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Colonel Jasper served as a missile combat crew 1-6 commander and evaluator at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota 1-7 from 1971 to 1976 and then as an assistant professor of aerospace 1-8 studies at Southern Illinois University until 1979; and 1-9 WHEREAS, From 1980 to 1983, he was commander of the 3750th 1-10 Headquarters Squadron at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas; he later 1-11 served at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas and at the Pentagon in 1-12 Washington, D.C.; from 1992 to 1995, he served as deputy commander 1-13 of the 81st Technical Training Group at Keesler Air Force Base in 1-14 Mississippi; and 1-15 WHEREAS, From August of 1995 to the present, Colonel Jasper 1-16 has served as vice commander of the 17th Training Wing at Goodfellow 1-17 Air Force Base in Texas, where, as principal assistant to the wing 1-18 commander, he has provided support for training over 6,000 1-19 intelligence experts for the United States Air Force, Army, Navy, 1-20 and Marine Corps and for government civilian agencies, allied 1-21 nations, and firefighter and SPINSTRA specialists; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Colonel Jasper's responsibilities have included 1-23 implementing the commander's policies and directing wing staff 2-1 offices, energy conservation committees, civilian cost management, 2-2 health promotions, and readiness posture; and 2-3 WHEREAS, In tribute to Colonel Jasper's outstanding service in 2-4 the United States Air Force, he has earned the Meritorious Service 2-5 Medal with three oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Commendation 2-6 Medal with oak leaf cluster; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 76th Legislature, hereby commend Colonel John N.
