1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1014 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 join the students and alumni of Saint Augustine High School 1-4 in expressing appreciation to Sister Antoinette Billeaud for 1-5 her 11 years of outstanding service as principal; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The varied and notable achievements of this 1-7 distinguished Sister of Divine Providence have contributed 1-8 immeasurably to the academic growth, student life, and physical 1-9 makeup of this Laredo school; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Born the fifth of nine daughters, Sister Antoinette 1-11 holds a bachelor of science degree in business education and a 1-12 master's degree in education with certification in counseling and 1-13 middle management from Our Lady of the Lake University; she earned 1-14 her religious studies certification at Regis College in Toronto; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, Her dedication and lifelong commitment to the 1-17 beliefs of her order have brought Sister Antoinette the distinction 1-18 of being elected superior general of the Congregation of the 1-19 Sisters of Divine Providence of San Antonio; and 1-20 WHEREAS, For the next six years, she and four councilors will 1-21 serve as administrative and spiritual leaders of the congregation, 1-22 which has its headquarters in Helotes and serves in the 1-23 United States, Mexico, and Ghana; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Being called to serve as superior general is a 2-2 tribute to Sister Antoinette's strength, compassion, and devotion 2-3 to her faith; her wisdom and experience will be of great value to 2-4 the Sisters of Divine Providence; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 76th Legislature, hereby congratulate and commend 2-7 Sister Antoinette Billeaud on her new position and extend 2-8 best wishes to her in this new endeavor; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-10 for her as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate. 2-11 Zaffirini 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 President of the Senate 2-14 I hereby certify that the above 2-15 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-16 on May 18, 1999. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Secretary of the Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
