 1-2                                  In Memory
 1-3                                     of
 1-4                             Alice Yvonne Acosta
 1-5           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate joins the citizens of Laredo
 1-6     in mourning the death of Alice Yvonne Acosta, who died on
 1-7     February 20, 1999, at the age of 35; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Born on August 7, 1963, Alice was an employee of
 1-9     the Texas Department of Human Services, where she had been honored
1-10     for her excellent work; and
1-11           WHEREAS, With her exuberant and friendly disposition,
1-12     Miss Acosta spread happiness everywhere she went; her friends will
1-13     remember her as an articulate, organized, and happy person; and
1-14           WHEREAS, The mother of one 13-year-old son, Able Acosta,
1-15     Alice was a dedicated and devoted parent; she made numerous
1-16     sacrifices in order to give her son an excellent education; and
1-17           WHEREAS, One of the most valuable lessons she taught her
1-18     son by example was the importance of family; her guidance is still
1-19     felt in the daily lives of her loved ones; and
1-20           WHEREAS, An attentive mother, friend, and daughter,
1-21     Alice Acosta is remembered for the affection, confidence, and
1-22     loyalty she inspired in those with whom she was associated; and
1-23           WHEREAS, A respected and beloved member of her community,
 2-1     Miss Acosta will be remembered for her devotion to her family,
 2-2     friends, and profession; she leaves a legacy of compassion and
 2-3     commitment which will be cherished by those who knew and loved
 2-4     her; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-6     76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
 2-7     of her family:  her son, Able Acosta; her mother and stepfather,
 2-8     Alicia and Mike Urdiales; her sister, Monica Lester; and her
 2-9     brother, Frank Acosta; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-11     members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
2-12     Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
2-13     in memory of Alice Yvonne Acosta.
