1-1                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1025
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to join
 1-3     with the citizens of Presidio in congratulating Joe Andy Mendoza on
 1-4     being recognized as a Lone Star Legend for his volunteer work at
 1-5     Fort Leaton State Historical Park; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, On April 14, 1999, the Texas Parks and Wildlife
 1-7     Department and the Wildlife Foundation of Texas, Incorporated,
 1-8     presented Joe Andy with a Lone Star Legend award for his volunteer
 1-9     work at the fort; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Donning period costume to depict the everyday
1-11     lifestyle of the border region in the 1870s, he has served as a
1-12     docent for the past three years in the living history program; and
1-13           WHEREAS, A senior at Presidio High School, Joe Andy takes
1-14     great pride in everything he does; this exceptional young man
1-15     is a member of the National Honor Society and the band; he has
1-16     participated in football and drama and attended Boy's State; and
1-17           WHEREAS, His unfailing dedication to educating people about
1-18     the fort and its place in the history of the border has earned
1-19     Joe Andy the praise of the public and the staff of the Texas Parks
1-20     and Wildlife Department; now, therefore, be it
1-21           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-1     76th Legislature, hereby congratulate Joe Andy Mendoza on being
 2-2     selected as a Lone Star Legend and commend him for his untiring
 2-3     dedication to the Fort Leaton State Historical Park; and, be it
 2-4     further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
 2-6     as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
