1-1                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1070
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 1-3     recognize Leadership Big Bend for its efforts to encourage
 1-4     better understanding of the assets, needs, and resources of
 1-5     this tri-county area; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Identifying people who want to be involved in the
 1-7     economic and community development of this area and training them
 1-8     to work together to accomplish their common goals are objectives
 1-9     of this leadership group; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The program offers participants a unique opportunity
1-11     to become knowledgeable about Brewster, Jeff Davis, and Presidio
1-12     counties by focusing on the needs of the area and promoting the
1-13     discovery of solutions for meeting those needs; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to
1-15     the preservation of the Big Bend area, including its economic
1-16     well-being; acceptance is limited to 15 to 20 participants per
1-17     class for the nine full-day sessions to ensure that everyone gains
1-18     a good working knowledge of the challenges and the possibilities
1-19     of the area; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Enrollment in Leadership Big Bend is truly an
1-21     investment in the future of the Big Bend area; now, therefore,
 2-1     be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-3     76th Legislature, hereby commend Leadership Big Bend on this
 2-4     important effort to promote leadership in the development of the
 2-5     Big Bend area; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
 2-7     expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
