 1-4                                     of
 1-5                              Micheal Ray Eakin
 1-6           WHEREAS, The tragic death of Deputy Constable Micheal Ray Eakin
 1-7     on September 29, 1998, at the age of 25, has left a void in the lives
 1-8     of the many individuals who knew and loved this noteworthy young man,
 1-9     and it is indeed appropriate to remember him at this time; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Deputy Eakin was a graduate of Conroe High School
1-11     and attended the University of Houston's Criminal Justice Academy,
1-12     graduating in 1994 and receiving the Athletic Honors award; he later
1-13     became an active member of Peace Officers for Christ International;
1-14     and
1-15           WHEREAS, This commendable individual served as a Harris County
1-16     deputy constable in Precinct 1 from 1995 until the time of his passing,
1-17     and he had previously dedicated two years of his life to serving as a
1-18     Montgomery County deputy constable in Precinct 1; his performance in
1-19     those important law enforcement roles was marked by his trademark
1-20     diligence and commitment to excellence; and
1-21           WHEREAS, An outstanding athlete, Deputy Eakin excelled on
 2-1     the football field and as a track star during his school years,
 2-2     winning numerous honors for his efforts and participating in the
 2-3     state football playoffs during his sophomore and junior years at
 2-4     Aldine High School; he also devoted much time and energy to Future
 2-5     Farmers of America, holding leadership positions on the local,
 2-6     district, and state levels, and was a lifetime member of the Houston
 2-7     Livestock Show and Rodeo Association and the Montgomery County Fair
 2-8     Association; and
 2-9           WHEREAS, Micheal Ray Eakin was a man of honor, courage, and
2-10     integrity, whose gregarious nature, sweet disposition, and sense of
2-11     humor have been missed by all who knew him, and although he has left
2-12     this world for the next, his spirit will remain in our hearts and
2-13     minds for years to come; now, therefore, be it
2-14           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-15     76th Texas Legislature, hereby pay special tribute to the life of
2-16     Deputy Constable Micheal Ray Eakin and extend sincere condolences
2-17     to the members of his family:  his parents, Bill and Janet Green;
2-18     his sisters, Michelle and Kristie Green; and the many other
2-19     relatives and friends of this dedicated public servant; and, be
2-20     it further
2-21           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
2-22     prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest
2-23     sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns
2-24     this day, it do so in memory of Micheal Ray Eakin.
