1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1087 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Zachary B. Bell 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-6 of Dallas and of Los Angeles, California, in mourning the death 1-7 of Zachary B. Bell, who died in April, 1999, after a lifelong 1-8 battle with cystic fibrosis; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Born in 1978, Zach was diagnosed with cystic 1-10 fibrosis at an early age; doctors did not expect him to live 1-11 beyond early childhood, but this incredible young man defied their 1-12 predictions; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Zach's ability to cope with cystic fibrosis was but 1-14 one of his extraordinary capabilities; he had a lifelong passion 1-15 for motion pictures, and the breadth of his film knowledge awed 1-16 even the most seasoned movie buffs; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Zach's love for films and his deep self-confidence 1-18 led him to pursue his dream of moviemaking in California; after 1-19 studying film at the University of Southern California, he applied 1-20 to the institution's film school; he was one of only 32 students 1-21 selected out of the hundreds who applied to attend the program 1-22 next fall; and 2-1 WHEREAS, More impressive than his handling of cystic fibrosis 2-2 or his many talents was Zach's devotion to his friends and family; 2-3 this young man, who was loved by so many, truly lived his life 2-4 well; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-7 family of Zachary B. Bell: his mother, Betty Jo Bell; his father, 2-8 David Bell; and his grandparents, Arnold Mandel and Sylvia Mandel; 2-9 and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-11 members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 2-12 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so 2-13 in memory of Zachary B.
