 1-3                                  In Memory
 1-4                                     of
 1-5                            J. Paul Pomeroy, Sr.
 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
 1-7     of Houston in mourning the loss of J. Paul Pomeroy, Sr., who died
 1-8     February 27, 1998, at the age of 91; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Paul Pomeroy moved to
1-10     Houston in 1950 and became a successful interior designer; he was
1-11     married to the late Eva Yancey Pomeroy, and they were the proud
1-12     parents of their son, J. Paul Pomeroy, Jr.; and
1-13           WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Paul Pomeroy was respected
1-14     for his many accomplishments and his leadership in the community;
1-15     and
1-16           WHEREAS, He was active in a number of civic causes and was a
1-17     member of a wide array of boards and organizations; he was a member
1-18     of the Board of Governors of the American Institute of Decorators,
1-19     the Burton Lions Club, and Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, where he
1-20     served as secretary and as a member of the council; and
1-21           WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
 2-1     he gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
 2-2     and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, J. Paul Pomeroy was a devoted husband, father, and
 2-4     grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
 2-5     forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
 2-8     bereaved family of J. Paul Pomeroy:  his son and daughter-in-law,
 2-9     J. Paul Pomeroy, Jr., and Booty Pomeroy; his grandsons and their
2-10     wives, Paul Pomeroy III and Zedna and Todd Pomeroy and Lorrie; his
2-11     granddaughter, Sarah Pomeroy; and his five great-grandchildren; and,
2-12     be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-14     members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
2-15     Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
2-16     in memory of J. Paul Pomeroy, Sr.
